A rim is a steel or aluminum part to which vehicle wheels are attached. Like most car parts, car rims can also be decorated. Car owners who want to personalize their vehicles and give them a different look from other vehicles can decorate their rims as they wish. If you want to paint your car's rims, you can have this done at many modification centers. However, you can also decorate your car's rims with your own means.
Things to Consider When Painting Rims Yourself
There are a few materials needed for rim decoration. These are:
* Rim Paint, approximately 5 spray cans will be sufficient.
* Sandpaper, to clean residue from the rim.
* Brake Cleaner, to clean dust and dirt.
* Rim Polish, to give the rim a shiny look and protect the car's paint at the same time.
* Old newspapers and tape, to protect the car's body from rim paint.
* PVC Tape, to protect the tires from paint.
First, you need to clean your rim with sandpaper and remove any residue. Then, you should cover your car's body and tires with newspaper to prevent paint from getting on them. After that, you should remove the metal residue from sanding using brake cleaner. Once this process is complete, you can paint your rim with rim paint. After the paint dries for a few hours, you can apply varnish and polish. First, make sure there are no other vehicles near your car, as you could damage them during the sanding and painting process. Be sure to be in an open area. Since the paints used are synthetic-based, doing this process in an enclosed space can harm you and those around you. Be careful not to have any flammable materials nearby. Work away from ignition sources, as rim paint and polish are highly flammable. If you want to paint your rim yourself, the cost will be between 100-150 TL. However, if you want to have the rim decoration done at a painting center, the cost ranges from 350 TL to 1000 TL. Of course, factors such as the size of your rim and the quality of the paint can change the price.
